"Constantine Rising" is the 6th episode of the series and the 3rd(b) of Season 1 of Robotboy. With Dr. Kamikazi in bed with a fever, Constantine decides to try a plot of his own. He kidnaps Lola and lures Tommy and Robotboy to Dr. Kamikazi's lair. Now, Gus is their last hope of rescue.

Summary[]

'Dr Kamikazi is in bed with a fever, so Constantine decides its upto him to capture Robotboy. Meanwhile, Moshimo has sent Tommy 3 rings, which allow himself, Lola and Gus to call each other wherever they are. Tommy is insulted, as he firmly believes Gus and Lola are irrelevant players in his, and Robotboy’s, consistent thwarting of Dr Kamikazi. Meanwhile, Constantine decides to ignore Kamikazi’s over elaborate methods of capture, and simply kidnaps Lola, knowing Tommy (and Robotboy) will come looking for his ‘girlfriend’. Constantine’s plan works a treat and it’s not long before Tommy and Robotboy join Lola in Dr Kamikazi’s lair. With hope running out, summoning Gus with Moshimo’s ring is the only option Tommy has left! Will Gus be able to save the day…or will he stay at home eating popsicles…

Trivia[]

  • This episode is remarkable for the fact that Tommy doesn't show any interest in one of Moshimo's inventions. This episode is also remarkable to be a episode where he is full of himself and seem not to care about others. He also treats and calls Robotboy his sidekick. He must be reminded that he need his friends and that Robotboy defeats the villains. In other episodes he always seems to realize and asks his friends or others for help when needed, and never shows any behavior of being better than others.
  • Goof: The mailman tosses Moshimo's package at Tommy's bedroom window. However, when it cuts to the room where Tommy, Lola, and Gus are playing a video game, the package comes in from offscreen in the direction opposite the window. This makes it seem like the package was thrown through the wall, even though we clearly hear glass being shattered.
  • Goof: When Tommy is standing on Robotboy's back when they are flying out of his room to Kaziland, he is first seen looking bored with his arm pointing to the air. They fly out of sight and then fly back in sight when Robotboy turns around. When they are back on screen, Tommy is seen standing on Robotboy's back in a falling position (Wide open eyes, terrified look and his mouth open). But when he actually falls off of Robotboy's back a few seconds later, the same position stays on screen. This is possibly a mistake from the animators. It's as remarkable that he doesn't move his arms when he falls. Extra note: It's also one of the rare times that Robotboy doesn't notice Tommy hurting himself or that he is involved in hurting Tommy.
  • The second episode of the seven episodes where Robotboy has no speaking lines, although he does scream surprisingly when he gets caught by Constantine, but it still does not count as he has said a proper word.
  • This is the first time somebody apart from Professor Moshimo calls Gus "Goose". Tommy mistakenly calls him that after agreeing to help his friends from then on even if he doesn't want to. This is either due to Moshimo not knowing how to say Gus' name properly, Gus' silly behaviour and low intelligence, or a shoutout to the Disney character, Gus Goose.
  • There is a running gag in this episode. Whenever Constantine or Gus would call Lola "Tommy's girlfriend", Tommy gets mad and tells them "Lola's not my girlfriend!" when it's quite obvious she is.
  • The episode title is a portmanteau on "Constantine" and "Constantly Rising".
  • The Dutch dubbed version of episode 3 (Constantine Rising and Teasebots) are missing. The Dutch Cartoon Network has lost the episode after its original broadcast in 2008. Therefore, it hasn't been broadcast anymore, neither can the episode found online in Dutch. Because of this, all the other episodes of season 1 are now broadcasted (Robotboy is still being broadcasted in 2016 on Dutch television) randomly instead of in order of number.
